In the summer of 2015 Gunnar released a vinyl album, called “LP”. It contains 40 minutes of electronic music, available on vinyl with the artwork of Ásgerður Birna Björnsdóttir.
Gunnar used features of the vinyl format as an influence for the composition: it’s two-sidedness and spiral groove became, for example, very important for both the form and the material of the music. The outcome is a slowly moving narrative that can be seen as an ambience with dramatic events occurring every once in a while.
The album features a few main players, human and mechanical: the siren-like singing voice of Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir rings in a perpetual choral and SYNTON, an old dutch modular synthesizer, situated in the composition studio of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, provides the majority of the electronic sounds on the album.
Daniel Lee (violin) and Wilma Pistorious (cello) close one side of the record with some hypnotizing harmonies and Michal Gasztych’s saxophones provide drones and bass notes with organ-like qualities.
Finally the music was mastered by Albert Finnbogason
